I'll have some of what Joey's smokin'!!!!!

The lantern is part of the cool and country charm of Joey's Smokin BBQ!

There are scant few rib joints left in this area but Joey's is a pretty good one. I always have the pulled pork and hush puppies! They are my favorite!

If you are around town and have a hankerin' for some'cue...Hit up Joey's! Doc's Saloon is attached and promises a good time!

This restaurant is counter service style, so no waiters...order up, take a seat and the staff delivers your meal to your table. Check 'em out!

rainy days, Sundays and Phil

The spring weather appears to be upon us. It has been a stormy weekend, here in Carlsbad.
Unfortunately all of the storm clouds blocked the optimum view of the SUPER MOON.  We will have to wait until the next time to view the gigantic spectacle.

So, as I sit here on this lazy Sunday evening, having finished a bowl of fresh strawberries and sweet cream, I think, COME ON RAIN! Bring on the showers and the wind, bring on the end to winter!

Everyone loved it when Phil did not see his shadow as he was ripped from his peaceful hollow. What Phil saw was a grateful crowd of smiling faces and he may have even  faintly heard the collective voices rising in song, praising spring and warmth and sunshine, as he was stuffed into his tree once more!

Goodbye winter...until we meet again!

He has such dreamy eyes...

The squirrels are HUGE in Carlsbad.

I think they are feasting on Cessy's leftovers. I saw one hoist a metal trashcan over the railing once. Seriously!

I am convinced that squirrels  roll around and scrounge in the dirt just for show...all the while they are laughing out loud over a gourmet meal of  things which are NOT found on the ground!

Get your fresh stuff here...

The Carlsbad Village Farmers Market is a fun way to spend a bit of your day.

You can find vendors of all kinds...fruits, veggies, flowers, plants, honey, tamales, and foods from around the globe.

You can visit the market twice weekly; Mondays and Saturdays, 1pm-5pm, rain or shine!

When it is a beautiful day out, which, in Carlsbad, is most days...the market is bumping with business. You will find local growers selling their wares and some folks who are not so local but, all of them very friendly!

My favorite treat to reward myself with is a chicken skewer from the Flavors of East Africa booth! It is the tastiest, spiciest, yummiest chicken I have ever had!

I strongly recommend you pay a visit to their storefront restaurant, in San Diego...you will not be disappointed!

So if you are out and about town, stop by the Carlsbad Village Farmers Market and gather some fresh ingredients for your next meal, meet some of your neighbors or just enjoy the fresh ocean air!
