For The Love of Mother

Being a parent has to be one of the hardest jobs in the world! There should be a celebration and appreciation for them daily! I have only ever been a PET parent and understand a bit about ferocity of love!

In honor of all the women who ARE mothers, WILL BE mothers, or WERE our mothers...LOVE comin' at you!

La Femme
I was raised by my sisters
Long after birth
If I went astray
They herded me in
Protected by their warmth
Goddesses are they
And will be until
They are leaving this place
An impenetrable female force
Rising upward
Mothers
Lovers
Daughters
Sisters
Aunties
Friends
Beloved are we
Someone’s promise
Someone’s hopes

Nathalie’s Child
There is a new life about you
A kicking one inside
A small angel who came to you
On gossamer wings
To fill you with wonder
And amazement
To teach you the joys
Of laughter over again
She will have her mother’s eyes
And will
She will have her father’s strength
And patience
She will be a gift that you
Will cherish for always
She will bring you knowledge
Of the other side
And she will entertain you
For a lifetime
She is yours to care for
To honor
To trust
She will be your teacher
As you will be hers
She will be your friend
And you her mother
For all of time
No bond is greater than
That which is shared by mother and child
Relish in her beauty
And fulfill her spirit
Teach her the language of kindness and compassion
And your rewards will be many
Hold her often and tell her
How loved she is
With sweet kisses on her forehead
Watch her grow and become a young woman
Who will be loved by all she meets
In her life

The Pieta
Holding him in Her arms
Limp, lifeless, loved
Holding inside Her screams
Mourning, not selflessly for Her loss
But for ours
His body lay across Her lap
Its promise still trickled
Over the skin torn apart in fear
And as She wept
It cleansed Him
Of the hurt that had lain Him out
He was Hope and Future,
Light and Living
Broken down and
Her love built Him up
To live forever as Guardian
Her son, Our Father

Surviving Sweep

The life and joy within your eyes
In an instant, slipped away.
Your happy tail is stilled
And I’ll always remember Wednesday.

The sunshine fades in the afternoon
And everything is changed.
The quiet rain, like polite applause,
In a round, repeats your name.

The train speeds past and sounds a dirge
In honor of your passing
My heart in pieces, crying out
No longer feels like laughing.

You never asked for anything
And gave everything in return.
You lived your life with adventurous courage
And this, from you, I learned.

Nearly fifteen years we shared together
Each memory I hold dear
Whenever I needed a loving friend
I always found you near.

Though your spirit was lifted towards Heaven
And your body returned to ash
I know I will never be alone.
The fullest place within my heart
Will always be your home.
