Today, in Carlsbad, I was in a meeting where I actually felt my heart grow two sizes.
It was a meeting about being socially responsible.
It is not a new concept to me, nor was it new to those who attended the meeting.
We discussed what is involved in stepping outside of yourself to serve others. It was the nicest meeting I have attended in a long while. I learned a little about each person there and how they like to give of their hearts.
I understood better the thing which pulls people into volunteering time and skills for a cause.
In the end, I felt I knew each person a bit better. I had warm fuzzies when I left, including a smile on my face.
This evening, I attended my Carlsbad community HOA meeting. Instead of a larger heart, I left THAT meeting with an increased heart rate and heightened blood pressure, and to be certain...a frowny face.
Community is made up of people coming together. Community takes heart, participation and desire to make a difference! A common neighborhood is not enough to call a group of people a community.
One of these meetings resonated with the way I like to lead my life while the other left me feeling quite the opposite.
